Corrosion inhibitor decreases the corrosion rate in cooling tower systems. It works by removal of corrosive substances, passivation, precipitation, or adsorption. Several deteriorating factors such as proximity of dissimilar metals, either by direct galvanic action between metals, or the dissolution of one metal and subsequent plating out in other parts of cooling tower system are responsible for corrosion.
